Study on Bearing Capacity of Anchor Bolts in North Bund White Magnolia Plaza
An anchor bolt is a common form of connection attaching structural steel elements or industrial equipment to a concrete pedestal. Since the design of anchor bolts in annex of North Bund White Magnolia Plaza is different from the common type, its bearing capacity cannot be estimated directly by formulas in current codes or design manuals. Therefore, FE models were established in Abaqus to investigate the failure modes and to calculate the bearing capacities subjected to tensile and shear load respectively. Moreover, a series of tests were also conducted to validate FE results, and to examine whether the capacities of such design are able to meet the engineering requirements.
